East of Reggio Emilia<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

To discover Emilia Romagna's iconic city, head east: an hour's drive awaits Bologna (but 25 minutes by high-speed train, which we highly recommend) with its beautiful old buildings, museums and excellent restaurants. Don't miss Piazza Maggiore, the Church of San Francesco and all the little streets that unravel from there. Bologna is also perfect when it rains because of its 38 km of arcades in the historic centre, which are also very useful to defend yourself from the summer heat.<\/p>

If, on the other hand, you love engines, head to Maranello to the Ferrari Museum or to Modena where you can admire the Prancing Horse company's historic cars.<\/p>

In Modena, just 40 minutes from our residences, you can reach one of the most celebrated restaurants in the world: L'Osteria Francescana of Massimo Bottura, undisputed master chef and champion of Emilian cuisine.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Don't miss the Duomo with its frescoed dome by Correggio, the Baptistery by Antelami and inside the Palazzo della Pilotta, the Farnese theatre. For an aperitif or dinner, Strada Farini and all the surrounding villages are the right address.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Apennines with its Natural Park, the Castles of Matilde, the Pietra di Bismantova: if you love nature and history, your route is south. In summer, we recommend discovering the wild orchids that grow in the Campotrera Nature Reserve or climbing the Pietra di Bismantova; in winter, you can try a moonlit 'snowshoe hike'.<\/p>

For history lovers, there are many castles and villages along this route: from the Castle of Canossa to that of Torrechiara, passing through Felino and Montechiarugolo.<\/p>
