What is the 'Ciccioli Balsamici' event?

Organised by the Pro Loco of Albineathe event comes to life every year in the heart of the village and involves the entire community in an event that enhances the peasant roots, the pork tradition and the know-how typical of the Reggio Emilia lands.

The party features the cracklings - crispy sheets of cooked and pressed pork, typical of traditional pork processing - freshly prepared by butchery teams from all over the region, competing in a kind of taste competition.

But what makes this event special is the 'balsamic' touch: the cracklings are paired with balsamic vinegarcreating surprising combinations that enhance the contrast between the tastiness of pork e the sweet acidity of the seasoning.

In addition to the preparation of cracklings, the day's programme includes:
